Will Sudhakaran Continue or Step Down?

In Kerala, whether K. Sudhakaran will continue as KPCC President remains a prominent topic in political circles. During a recent meeting with senior Congress leaders in Delhi, Sudhakaran expressed his preference to remain in the post until the Assembly elections. The crucial discussion was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking to the media, Sudhakaran stated, “If they want me to continue, I will. If they ask me to step down, I will. The decision rests with the High Command.” He also clarified that he has not suggested any replacement for himself.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that a faction has approached the High Command proposing Anto Antony for the KPCC President post. It is believed that Priyanka Gandhi supports Anto’s candidature. However, K. Muraleedharan criticized this move, remarking, “A leader should be someone whose leadership is evident from their photo,” indirectly targeting Anto. MP Shashi Tharoor also opposed a leadership change, stating that such a move is inappropriate with local body elections approaching.

Both supporters and critics agree that the party needs fresh energy and dynamism in its functioning. Therefore, whether Sudhakaran continues or a reorganization takes place, it will shape the path the party takes into the future.
